Original Colt 1911 slide was badly rust pitted. With judicious filing and sanding, the pits came out well and the lettering was saved

Apparently Meriden was aquired by Savage, as this is identical to a very early Savage pump .22.
Careful polish and bluing made it rather nice looking.
